Hezbollah Pagers Explode, Over 4,000 Injured, 11 Dead

A series of explosions in the Hezbollah-controlled Dahieh region of Beirut has left thousands injured. Foreign media reports that the blasts came from Hezbollah operatives’ pagers • Full Story

A series of explosions were reported in the Dahieh area of Beirut on Tuesday afternoon, leaving 11 dead and at least 4,000 injured.

Later reports said that “dozens” of simultaneous explosions took place in Syria as well, when pagers worn by Hezbollah terrorists exploded.

Dahieh is known as a Hezbollah stronghold.

Encrypted pagers used by Hezbollah for internal messaging exploded. Others reported that Hezbollah only began using the beeper devices in question within the last few months.

According to the News, a diplomatic figure in Lebanon was among those injured in the explosions. Other reports said that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon was among those injured. It is not clear if this is the “diplomatic figure” referred to in theNews report.

Among the injured are senior Hezbollah commanders and their aides.

A senior Lebanese official claimed that Israel “broke into the pagers’ system, and blew it up.”

An official announcement by Hezbollah states that “at 3:30 pm a large number of pagers exploded, many people were thrown to the ground. A security investigation is being conducted to investigate the explosions.”

Contrary to Hezbollah’s announcement that refrained from blaming Israel, the Lebanese Minister of Information said this evening that “Israel is responsible for the explosions.”

A source in Hezbollah said that some of the terrorists felt that their device was getting hot and they threw it away before it exploded. It was also reported that some devices received a message before exploding. Hospitals around the country called to donate blood. It was reported that Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, was injured in the face and was seeking medical treatment.

The Lebanese Health Ministry responded: “We demand that the hospitals be on the highest level of alert, and increase their preparedness for admitting the victims. We call on citizens to immediately throw out their pagers.” Doctors across Lebanon have been asked to rush to their hospitals.

A security source said that hundreds of Hezbollah terrorists were injured as a result of a cyber attack and the simultaneous explosions. The site also reported that the devices which exploded simultaneously were all located in areas where Hezbollah’s presence is significant, such as Beqaa and Dahieh.

According to reports, approximately 70 people were injured by the explosions in various locations across Lebanon, and hospitals have called for blood donations.

Following the explosion, Hezbollah terrorists were ordered by the organization’s leadership to abandon their pagers, for fear of additional explosions.

An official Hezbollah source said, “The pagers’ explosions is a result of the greatest security breach thus far.”

On Tuesday afternoon, a series of explosions shook the Dahieh area of Beirut, resulting in 11 fatalities and at least 4,000 injuries. Dahieh, known as a stronghold of Hezbollah, was the epicenter of the blasts.

Subsequent reports indicated that similar explosions occurred simultaneously in Syria, triggered by pagers worn by Hezbollah terrorists. These encrypted pagers, which Hezbollah had reportedly begun using only in recent months, exploded under mysterious circumstances.

Among the injured was a diplomatic figure, with initial reports suggesting that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon may have been among those hurt.

The blasts injured several senior Hezbollah commanders and their aides. In response, a senior Lebanese official claimed that Israel had hacked into the pager system and caused the explosions. Hezbollah, in their official statement, acknowledged that at 3:30 p.m., multiple pagers exploded, throwing many people to the ground. They announced that a security investigation is underway.

Despite Hezbollah’s cautious stance, the Lebanese Minister of Information later attributed the explosions to Israel. Reports indicated that some Hezbollah members noticed their pagers heating up and discarded them before detonation. Additionally, it was reported that some devices received a message shortly before exploding.

The Lebanese Health Ministry has urged hospitals to prepare for an influx of patients and called for citizens to discard their pagers. Hospitals across the country have been asked to increase their readiness, and a call for blood donations has been issued.

A security source revealed that the explosions were the result of a cyber attack, affecting areas with a significant Hezbollah presence, such as Beqaa and Dahieh.

Following the incident, Hezbollah has instructed its operatives to abandon their pagers due to the fear of further explosions. An official Hezbollah source described the pager explosions as the most significant security breach to date.
