Hands-On Tzitzis Workshop at ULY: Bringing Halacha to Life

In a unique and immersive initiative, 8th-grade students at Lubavitcher Yeshiva recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a hands-on tzitzis workshop. This special project, the culmination of months of studying the halachos of tzitzis, allowed students to bring their learning to life in a meaningful and practical way • Read More, Photos

    From Theory to Practice

Under the guidance of their teacher, Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Shmueli, the students spent months delving into the intricate laws of tzitzis, exploring both the halachic details and the deeper significance of this fundamental mitzvah. To cap off their learning, they participated in a hands-on workshop where they had the opportunity to tie their own tzitzis.

Leading the workshop was Rabbi Eliyahu Ezagui, an expert tzitzis maker, who provided individualized instruction to each student. With his guidance, the boys carefully tied their own tzitzis, transforming their theoretical knowledge into a tangible act of mitzvah observance. This experience not only reinforced their understanding but also instilled a sense of pride and ownership in their avodas Hashem.

    Strengthening Connection Through Action

Rabbi Shmueli praised the initiative as a powerful way to deepen the students’ connection to mitzvos. “Not only did they learn the halachos of tzitzis, but they also created their own pair to wear daily, enhancing their joy in serving Hashem.” By engaging in the mitzvah firsthand, the students gained a greater appreciation for its significance.

    Inspiring Future Initiatives

The success of this workshop has set the stage for more hands-on learning experiences at ULY. “We look forward to many more projects like this,” Rabbi Shmueli said, emphasizing the importance of blending study with real-world application. Through initiatives like this, ULY continues to inspire a new generation to embrace Yiddishkeit with knowledge, enthusiasm, and hands-on engagement.
