The newly launched GoTov digital platform, operating under the Federation of Jewish Communities, is transforming Jewish community engagement across Russia and the Former Soviet Union, successfully mobilizing thousands of volunteers through its innovative community-building approach.

“Our mission is to create and develop a global community of Russian-speaking Jews united by heritage, traditions, and culture,” explains GoTov Director, Rabbi Yisrael Lazar.

“In our modern era, many aspects of daily life have moved online, and the importance of being present and actively engaged continues to grow rapidly. The platform we are developing aims to make vibrant Jewish life accessible, offering practical and engaging content in the most convenient way possible for every Jew in a contemporary and efficient manner.”

The platform enables community members to attend events, access services, and participate in educational programs while offering exclusive benefits through its volunteer loyalty program.

The platform’s impact was demonstrated during Chanukah 2024 when over 600 young volunteers from EnerJew and YAHAD youth programs visited more than 4,000 Jewish homes across 35 cities.

During these heartwarming visits, volunteers conducted joyous menorah-lighting ceremonies, sharing the ancient traditions and blessings that have illuminated Jewish homes for generations. The festivities were enhanced with the distribution of traditional sufganiyot (doughnuts), along with specially prepared holiday materials and themed gifts.

Using GoTov‘s system, the volunteers also coordinated the distribution of food packages to over 2,200 families, bringing the spirit of the Festival of Lights into every Jewish home.
