Gallery: Torah Dedication in Sderot in Memory of the Victims of the War
A moving Siyum Sefer Torah took place last Thursday in Sderot, culminating in the completion of the final letters at the site of the former police station • Full Story
The Torah was written by the Chabad House of Sderot in memory of the police officers, IDF soldiers, and the victims, may their memories be a blessing, who fell during Simchas Torah and in the War that followed.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of numerous dignitaries, including: Rabbi Moshe Havlin, head of Chabad Yeshiva and Rav of Kiryat Gat, Rabbi Dror Tawill, Rav of Sderot, Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi, Minister of Health Uriel Busso, Minister of Jerusalem and Heritage Meir Parush, Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi, MK Alon Schuster, Rabbi Reuven Kamiel, Southern District Rabbi of the Israel Police; Sderot Police Command; senior officers from the Southern Police District and the IDF; bereaved families, city council members and many public figures.
Following the completion of the final letters, a jubilant procession with the Sefer Torah made its way through the streets of the city. Residents of Sderot, deeply moved by the occasion, came out to join the procession and share in the joy. The procession concluded at the Chabad House, where Hakafos were held, and the Torah was placed in the Aron Kodesh with great reverence.
The evening concluded with a festive and meaningful Seudas Mitzvah, filled with celebration and joy. The event was enhanced by Ami Maimon, and featured speeches from ministers, Knesset members, Rabbonim, and Shluchim, who offered words of Torah and Brachos.
Rabbi Moshe Ze’ev Pizem, the Rebbe’s Shliach in Sderot, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported and helped make this important and sacred event a reality.
