From the “Bunker of Death” to the “Bunker of Life”: A Historic Tanya Printing

With gratitude to Hashem, a deeply moving event took place this Sunday, 2 Adar, in the very bunker that was once called the “Bunker of Death.” This was the same bunker where 29 people took shelter, and where Anar Shapira HY”D, heroically threw out seven live grenades with his bare hands to protect those inside • Full Story, Photos

In a powerful tribute to his memory, Anar’s parents, together with a large gathering, printed the holy book of Tanya inside the bunker. This act followed the Rebbe’s directive to print Tanya in every place possible—transforming the bunker from a site of terror into a “Bunker of Life.”

A Message of Light Over Darkness

At the printing event, speakers emphasized the profound contrast: in the very place where terrorists had thrown grenades to annihilate Jewish lives, Jews were now bringing in the holy words of Tanya to illuminate the space with divine light.

They also spoke about Anar’s self-sacrifice for fellow Jews he did not even know, as well as the message he personally wrote, composed, and recorded in his lifetime—a song titled “Today, We Fight Against Baseless Hatred.” In alignment with this theme, attendees studied Chapter 32 of Tanya, which focuses on the importance of Ahavas Yisrael mirroring Anar’s heroic story.

Prayers for Redemption and the Hostages’ Release

Together, the crowd recited heartfelt prayers, asking that in the merit of this Tanya printing, all hostages be immediately freed—returning home healthy and whole—and that we soon witness the coming of Moshiach, bimheira b’yameinu.

    Organizers and Musical Tribute

This historic printing was organized and initiated by: Rabbi Izzy Morgenstern, Outpost Commander Paga Aryeh Amit, Rabbi Levi Margolin and Hatamim Aharon Freiman.

Acclaimed musician Yair Shapira generously volunteered his time to perform at the event, traveling especially to be part of this sacred moment. For event bookings: +972 52-720-4595
