For the First Time in the War: Israeli Navy Missile Boats Strike in Yemen
The IDF this morning (Tuesday) confirmed that missile boats from the Israeli Navy struck targets belonging to the Iranian-backed Houthi regime at the Port of Hudaydah in Yemen — marking the first time in the current conflict that such naval firepower has been used • Read More
According to an IDF statement, the strike was a direct response to recent Houthi aggression against Israel, including the launch of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli territory and civilians.
The military emphasized that the operation was designed to further disrupt the port’s use for military purposes. Despite previous IDF strikes over the past year, the port has continued to serve as a base for terror activities and arms smuggling.
“This port is being cynically exploited by the Houthi terror regime to advance its attacks,” the statement said. “The strike was preceded by multiple warnings in an effort to minimize harm to civilians in the area.”
The IDF warned again that anyone present in the port area should evacuate immediately.
The last IDF strike in Yemen occurred two weeks ago, targeting the airport in the capital Sana’a during an operation codenamed “Golden Jewel.”
Just yesterday, the Houthis launched another missile toward Israel, which fell short without triggering sirens. Their most recent launch that activated Israeli alerts occurred last Thursday during protests in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Houthis later claimed responsibility, saying the missile was aimed at Ben Gurion Airport.
