The first yartzeit of Mrs. Gitta Gansburg will be marked this Wednesday evening, Vov Kislev, November 18, at the Machon Chana dormitory, 1367 President Street, home to Rabbi Itchke & Mrs. Gitta Gansburg for 38 years.
Mrs. Gansburg was the dorm mother of Machon Chana and had the zechus of the Rebbe telling her regarding the Machon Chana students, “Thank you for raising my daughters.”
In communities around the world, alumni are also marking the shloshim with gatherings and classes in the days preceding and following the yartzeit. Yartzeit Hakhel events are taking place in Brazil, France, Argentina, Eretz Yisroel and throughout the U.S.
At the Crown Heights event, which will be live streamed and also can be heard via telephone conferencing, there will be a reception at 8:00 p.m. followed by a program. Speakers include Rabbi Shloma Majeski, principal of Machon Chana, Rabbi Yisroel and Mrs. Fradie Brod, son-in-law and daughter of Mrs. Gansburg, and Mrs. Sara Korn, alumna of Machon Chana and shlucha at Chabad of the Bowery in New York City.
There will be a raffle of a dollar of the Rebbe at the Yartzeit Hakhel Gathering to raise money for Machon Chana. Tickets will be sold at the event and people watching via live stream or listening by telephone will be able to participate in the raffle as well.
In honor of the yartzeit, all friends of Machon Chana and alumni are asked to donate to the Rabbi & Mrs. Gansburg Dorm Parents fund. Donations to the fund, which will be used to benefit the students in the Machon Chana dormitory can be made via PayPal at [email protected] or mailed to the school at 825 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11213.
