After servicing the Wellesley-Weston community for two decades, shluchim Rabbi Moshe and Geni Bleich set out to build the city’s first every mikvah and kosher student housing.

For 20 years, Wellesley Weston Chabad, led by the Bleichs, has been serving the many needs of the local Jewish community, as well as the Babson and Wellesley College students.

Throughout the entire time, the lack of a mikvah in the area, half hour away from Boston was acutely felt. In addition, shomer Shabbos students were majorly inconvenienced with the lack of dorms that allowed them to keep Shabbos properly.

To solve both the issues at once, Rabbi Bleich set out to expand his Chabad House, creating space both for the mikvah and for kosher student housing.

Launched last year, the expansion is making headway, with the completion projected for the near future.

As the mikva nears completion, Rabbi Sholom Shuchat, Dayan in the Beis Din of Agudas Harabonim, and Rabbi Chaim Hertz traveled to Massachusetts to supervise the construction, and make sure everything is being done with the highest standards of kashrus.

Today, they are embarking on a $150,000 campaign, to finish the building of the first-ever mikvah in Wellesley as well as the first-ever kosher student housing for students who want to keep Shabbos while attending one of the local colleges.
