Federal Judge Blocks Deportation of Terrorist’s Family Following Attack on Jews in Colorado
Outrage is mounting after a federal judge temporarily blocked the deportation of the family of the terrorist who carried out Sunday’s firebomb attack on a Jewish gathering in downtown Boulder, Colorado • Full Story
The attack, which law enforcement and federal officials have called a “targeted terror attack,” was directed at a peaceful Jewish meetup raising awareness for the Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. The terrorist, shouting antisemitic slogans, hurled Molotov cocktails at the group in a brazen attempt to cause mass casualties. According to police, he brought 18 firebombs with the intent to kill as many Jews as possible—but managed to throw only two before being subdued.
The FBI has confirmed the incident is being investigated as an antisemitic terror attack. In court documents, the terrorist admitted he intended to “kill all Zionist people” and showed no remorse. Authorities say the attack was carefully premeditated.
Despite the severity of the assault, a U.S. District Judge issued an emergency order on Wednesday to halt the deportation of the terrorist’s wife and five children, all Egyptian nationals, who were taken into federal custody on Tuesday. While they have not been charged, Homeland Security officials have confirmed they are being investigated for any possible connection to the attack or prior knowledge of the plot.
Jewish communities across the country have expressed shock and frustration. “This was a direct attack on American Jews, motivated purely by hatred,” said one local Jewish leader. “The fact that it happened in broad daylight, on American soil, should set off alarms nationwide.”
The terrorist is currently being held on a $10 million bond and faces both federal hate crime charges and state charges of attempted murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
