Ezer L’Chayal Brings Comfort and Support to Soldiers on the Front Lines

In makeshift tents, on dusty assembly grounds, between tanks and jeep convoys—that’s where the ‘Ezer LaChayal’ teams meet the soldiers, face to face. Amid artillery fire and constant tension, these moments take on a special meaning • Read More, Photos, Watch

The soldiers light up with joy when they see the team arriving with hygiene and toiletry kits—especially in the extreme weather. And of course, no visit would be complete without cold drinks, popsicles, and ice cream brought straight from the field freezer truck of Ezer LaChayal.

Sometimes, it’s the first time in a week that someone simply came to ask how they’re doing—and gave them a moment that feels like home.

One of the most moving actions for the soldiers is the distribution of portable air conditioners and cooling units, which bring relief in the exhausting heat.

“We couldn’t believe someone would come all the way out here with ice cream,” said one soldier.

Meanwhile, other soldiers chose to write a letter in the Sefer Torah, following The Rebbe’s directive that this provides true protection for soldiers’ lives. And of course, there’s the “secret weapon”—the tefillin campaign.

In the field itself, Chitas’n are distributed for tanks and armored vehicles, custom-made tzitzis suitable for combat, Chitas microfilm cards for the soldiers, and high-quality tefillin sets.

Yehuda Lhiani, the organization’s project manager, sums it up:

“The activity of Ezer LaChayal isn’t just logistical—it’s emotional and vital. It touches the soldiers’ spirits during some of the hardest moments of their lives, reminding them that the nation is with them and deeply appreciates them. This is a true Kiddush Hashem and expression of Chabad that has no equal—and will hasten The Rebbe’s revelation.”

R’ Eliyahu Gutman, director of the organization, turns to all Anash families:

“Those whose children are currently fighting in Israel—we are happy to offer them support and assistance with joy.”
