In a shocking event, Rabbi Ariel Leshem, a Chabad chossid was attacked while doing Mivtzoim at the Chabad stand in the Machne Yehuda market in Yerushalayim.
A young muscular man approached the stand and put his hand on the stand and searched for something to take. When Rabbi Ariel asked him to release his hands from the stand, the man turned towards him and hit punch him in the face hard.
Ariel suffered a retinal hemorrhage from the blow and was rushed to immediate surgery. He was hospitalized at the Hadassah Medical Center, where he was treated. He underwent laser surgery on the retina and is in recovery.
Following the incident, the Israel Police opened an investigation into the incident, hoping to bring the attacker to justice.
“I was surprised by the attack, but I was not deterred by violence.” Rabbi Ariel who has operated the stand for a long time, told Chabadinfo.“As a former combat officer, I experienced more difficult things. The attack will not diminish what i have been doing, but I will expand the mivtzoim at the stand”.
