A fire broke out in the building of the Chabad House in Elad, directed by Shliach Rabbi Yoseph Yitzchak Silverman, in the middle of the night, while the Mispalilim had already left the Shul.
B’Chasdei Hashem, the mayor’s deputy, R’ David Ishar, noticed the fire and called the fire department, who quickly arrived and miraculously, saved all Sifrei Torah without any damage. Also, the Rebbe’s picture and the Likkutei Torah seforim remained intact and untouched by the fire even though they were very close to the origin fire.
But much damage was caused to the Shul, and the equipment in the building as well as to the thousands of Seforim and bookcases inside, with a total value of about ₪200,000.
According to the police investigator’s preliminary investigation, the fire was caused by the memorial candles at the Chazan’s shtender.
Following the fire, the Mispalilim of the Chabad House had to move to daven in the Sukkah area of the Chabad House.
The Shliach Rabbi Silverman calls on Anash to participate in an emergency fundraiser for the renovation of the Chabad House.
