Rabbi Asher Eckstein, chairman of Vaad Hakashrus Belz in the U.S., and one of the world’s foremost authorities on Kashrus, recently visited the Jewish community of Dnipro—one of the spiritual and administrative centers of Jewish life in Ukraine. The primary purpose of his visit was to grant an additional kosher certification to Europe’s largest matzah bakery, “Tiferet HaMatzot,” located in Dnipro and renowned internationally for its exceptional quality.
Rabbi Eckstein was accompanied by Rabbi Mayer Stambler, Chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine (FJCU), and Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetsky, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and Chabad Shliach. He praised the bakery’s exceptional standards and meticulous adherence to kosher laws.
Rabbi Eckstein’s certification will complement the three existing respected certifications from the Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi, the OK certification, and the Dnipro Kashrut Committee, headed by Rabbi Kaminetsky. Also present during the visit were the former head of Dnipro’s kosher supervision system, Rabbi Elisha Baram, and his successor, Rabbi Israel Gurevich.
During his stay, Rabbi Eckstein also visited prominent Jewish institutions in Dnipro, including the “Menorah Center,” the largest Jewish complex globally, and participated in events celebrating the Frierdiker Rebbe’s Chag Hageulah on Yud Beis – Yud Gimmel Tammuz. He also delivered an inspiring lecture to students of Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Dnipro, commending their enthusiasm and deep knowledge.
