Earlier today, US Ambassador to Israel, Mr. David Friedman and President Donald Trump’s Chair of the Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Mr. Chris Neeley, visited ‘Special in Uniform’.
Special in Uniform is an innovative program that integrates youth with disabilities into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and helps prepare them for careers following army service.
Accompanying the dignitaries on the visit, was Rabbi Mendy Belintzky, one of the founders and directors of “Yad LaYeled HaMeyuchad” – “Lend a Hand to a Special Child,” the mother organization of ‘Special in Uniform’.
Lend a Hand to a Special Child is a grassroots organization founded in 2004 by Rabbi Mendy Belintzky and parents of children who wished to concentrate all the tools, resources and available options to provide their children with all they need to cope with their challenges and disabilities.
Friedman and Neeley were both very impressed with the organization and expressed their wishes to try to establish a similar project in the United States.
