Delta Resumes Daily Nonstop Flights to Tel Aviv After Temporary Suspension
Delta Air Lines has officially resumed its nonstop service from New York’s JFK Airport to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, following a temporary suspension earlier this month due to “heightened security concerns” • Read More
The decision, announced Tuesday, comes after the airline conducted what it described as an “extensive security risk assessment” in coordination with relevant authorities and security partners. Flights will now operate on a daily schedule.
Delta, along with other major global carriers, paused operations to Tel Aviv following the attacks on Israel in October 2023. The latest suspension came in the wake of a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on May 4, which landed near Ben Gurion Airport. That incident prompted several airlines to halt service once again.
While United Airlines resumed its Newark–Tel Aviv route on March 15 and added a second daily flight later that month, many European carriers – including Virgin Atlantic – have kept flights suspended indefinitely.
“Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports,” the airline said in a statement.
For customers impacted by the suspension, Delta has issued a travel waiver. Passengers who booked flights to Tel Aviv on or before May 5 for travel through May 25 may rebook without penalty, with rebooked travel required to be completed by June 15.
