In a social media update, Toronto Pearson Airport acknowledged the incident, stating they were “aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta plane arriving from Minneapolis.” The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft involved was Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, which crashed at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time.

The CRJ-900 regional jet had departed from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and was attempting to land when the accident occurred. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has taken charge of the investigation and will provide further updates.

Following the crash, Toronto Pearson temporarily halted arriving flights, though the airport has since reopened. However, the FAA warns of continued departure delays for inbound flights heading to Toronto.

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian expressed concern and gratitude in a statement to USA TODAY, saying, “The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident. I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site. We are working to confirm the details and will share updates as soon as possible.”

Officials have not yet provided details on what caused the crash, but investigations are ongoing.
