As hundreds of children awoke to one of their last weeks of the school year, one bus carrying close to 50 children collided with a garbage truck on the north service lane of Eastern Parkway, between the streets of Kingston Ave. & Brooklyn Ave.
The garbage truck was making its usual rounds when it drove down the narrow service lane, thereby blocking the route of the school bus. The bus driver – who asked to remain anonymous – not wanting the children to be late to school, tried maneuvering around the truck.
The bus driver told a ChabadInfo reporter that “the main thing is that – thank G-d – all the kids are safe, and uninjured”.
As the NYPD was not yet on the scene, a small garbage can was used to block off the service lane. The entire ordeal lasted for over an hour.
Although the children came to school an hour late, they were thankful for not having suffered any injuries.
