Yesterday, 24 Tishrei, Camp Chayolei Hamelech had their biannual camp reunion. The children left Crown Heights around noon and were treated out to a bowling trip in Mill Basin. After their trip they went to a nearby park and had a delicious pizza party. Together all the campers were able to sit and reconnect with their cherished staff.
Camp Chayolei Hamelech has these reunions in order that the summer experience and development of each and every camper shouldn’t just stay a two month period. Rather, the summer should be the base for the growth to come afterwards. As we know, the Rebbe said that the Chinuch that is given over in camp can be more effective than the whole year.
Especially this year which is a Hakhel year in which we gather together as much as we can during the year. As it was in the times of the Beis Hamikdash the Jewish nation gathered once in seven years to strengthen their Yir’as Hashem. Now, too, we gather to strengthen our Yir’as Hashem.
