Sixteen years ago in 1999, Rabbi Binyomin Edery established the first Chabad House in Japan. Throughout the years, Rabbi Edery received many requests about celebrating Jewish holidays and kosher food provisions in Kyoto, the need for a permanent Jewish center was very apparent.

Today, Chabad of Japan announced the opening of Chabad of Kyoto which will serve the local Jews in Kyoto and the surrounding cities and the many tourists that visit throughout the year.

The new Chabad House has a large hall which were serve as a shul and festive dining room. There are also rooms for guests available. A store with kosher Japanese products under KJ will be open daily.

We wish the shluchim much success in preparing Kansai (West Japan) to greet Moshiach by doing acts of goodness and kindness.
