Chabad Nigeria Holds Massive Ramadan Food Drive
Last week, in an act of good faith and friendship, dozens of Jewish volunteers from Chabad of Nigeria organized and distributed a quarter of a million meals for the benefit of needy families on the occasion of Muslim holiday of Ramadan. Last week, in an act of good faith and friendship, dozens of Jewish volunteers from Chabad of Nigeria organized and distributed a quarter of a million meals for the benefit of needy families on the occasion of Muslim holiday of Ramadan.
The unique program was organized by the ChabadAid humanitarian organization, under the auspices of Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Uzan, in collaboration with a group of generous sponsors, as well as the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria.
Rabbi Uzan and his organization used the distribution event as an opportunity to teach their Muslim neighbors about the prophecy of Micah, mentioned by the Rambam in Hilchos Melachim, that “at that time [when Moshiach comes] there will be no famines and no wars, no envy and no competition. For the Good will be very pervasive”. The well known statement of the Rambam was posted on large signs throughout the distribution area.
Nigeria boasts a population of 200 million people, 100 million of them are of the Muslim faith.
