Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida Welcomes New Israeli Shluchim on Gimmel Tamuz

In a heartfelt celebration coinciding with Gimmel Tamuz, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida welcomed new Shluchim who will serve the region’s vibrant and growing Israeli community • Full Story, Photos

The event took place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the new Fort Myers residence of Rabbi Shalom and Devorie Katz, who arrived from Israel together with their young daughter Sheina to begin their mission of Jewish outreach, education, and spiritual support.

Under the leadership of Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz and Shani Silver, community members gathered to extend a warm welcome to the Katz family and mark this meaningful milestone. In an atmosphere of joy and unity, the evening included a festive buffet dinner and a hands-on demonstration of The Rebbe’s core values: love, action, and connection.

    Highlights of the Celebration:

    • A delicious dinner was shared by local families and supporters.

    • Men were invited to don Tefillin, continuing the Rebbe’s global Tefillin campaign.

    • In a spirit of practical help and Mivtza Ahavas Yisrael, locals pitched in to unload the moving truck, ensuring the Katz family settled in smoothly.

    • A Mezuzah affixing ceremony brought Brachos and protection to the new home, with enthusiastic participation from everyone present.

“This was more than a welcome party—it was a powerful moment of communal connection and commitment to Jewish continuity,” said Rabbi Minkowicz, Director of Chabad of Southwest Florida. “Especially on Gimmel Tamuz, the Rebbe’s legacy comes alive when we grow, build, and stand united.”

At a time when the Jewish people in Israel and around the world face significant challenges, the Katz family’s arrival carries extra meaning and urgency, reinforcing The Rebbe’s vision that no Jew will be left behind.

The new Shluchim will focus on expanding Jewish life and services for the Israeli population in Southwest Florida, offering classes, programs, and personal support to strengthen Jewish identity and pride.
