A new sefer torah was welcomed to Jewish North York (JNY) of Toronto in memory of Hatomim Meir Likhovetski A”H, who was tragically killed in a car accident, last year at 19 years old.
Meir was spending the year on shlichus in Mason, Ohio, helping the shliach out with CTeen programs. He gave his heart and soul to the Rebbe’s inyanim, and was active in projects like Kovetz Haoros and the Igros Kodesh app, making it easier and more accessible to learn the Rebbe’s Torah.
The Torah was completed at the Likhovetski home in Toronto, where friends and family joined together to complete the final letters of the new Sefer Torah.
The parade from the Likhovetski home was lead by “Meir’s Mitzvah Tank” from Crown Heights, and it proceeded to JNY, where Hakofos and dancing were led by the Shliach, Rabbi Yisroel Karpilovsky.
The crowd consisted of Meir’s family, including his parents, sisters, and extended family, as well as his community, members of Anash, and his friends that came from all over the world.
