The Jewish community of Montreal celebrated the completion of a new Sefer Torah written in memory of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Greenglass, ahead of his first Yahrtzeit.
The new Torah was brought to Montreal’s Congregation Shomrim Laboker with joyous music and dancing. With Hakafos followed by a seudas mitzva and pre Chof Daled Farbrengen with Rabbi Yossi Paltiel.
Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak (Yossi) was son of Reb Volf Greenglass, the renowned mashpia at Tomchei Tmimim Montreal, who survived the Holocaust by fleeing Shanghai via Japan, and went on to being sent there by the Frierdiker Rebbe to Montreal, where he taught thousands.
