Cabinet Approves 22 New Communities Across Judea and Samaria
Led by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Minister in the Defense Ministry Bezalel Smotrich, the Security Cabinet has approved a historic decision for the settlement enterprise: the establishment of 22 new communities throughout Judea and Samaria. This move is set to transform the region and shape the future of settlement for years to come • Read More
Among the most notable changes is the historic return to Homesh and Sa-Nur, as Israel officially and practically implements the repeal of the Disengagement Law in northern Samaria. This decision paves the way for the reestablishment of Jewish communities in Homesh and Sa-Nur — a step seen as correcting a historical injustice and affirming the Jewish right to the land.
The decision also includes the establishment of four communities along the eastern border with Jordan, as part of strengthening Israel’s eastern spine, bolstering national security, and solidifying strategic presence in the area.
All new communities are being established with a long-term strategic vision: to strengthen Israeli presence on the ground, prevent the creation of a Palestinian state, and develop future reserves for the growth of settlements in the coming decades.
Defense Minister Israel Katz stated:
“This historic decision to establish 22 new communities in Judea and Samaria strengthens our hold on the region, affirms our historic right to the Land of Israel, and serves as a decisive response to Palestinian terror that seeks to harm and weaken the settlement enterprise.”
He added:
“Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria is a vital defensive shield for Israel’s major population centers. We must do everything possible to expand and strengthen this protective barrier. Today’s decision not only fortifies our eastern spine but is also a strategic move to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state that would endanger Israel and create a buffer against our enemies. This is a security-focused, and national response — a clear statement about the future of our land.”
Minister Bezalel Smotrich said:
“This is a great day for settlement and an important day for Israel. Through dedicated effort and determined leadership, we have succeeded, with G-d’s help, in achieving a deep strategic shift — bringing Israel back to a path of building, Zionism, and vision. Settlement in our ancestral homeland is Israel’s defensive wall — today we took a major step to strengthen it. The next step — sovereignty!”
He added:
“We have not taken a foreign land, but rather the inheritance of our forefathers.”
Minister of Settlement and National Missions Orit Strook responded:
“We promised — and we are delivering. New communities are being established in Judea and Samaria. We are closing a decades-long gap in the settlement of the land. We are offering an answer to vast areas that have been neglected and abandoned. We are expressing our right to the land and our duty toward it through action. We continue to correct the sin of the Disengagement.”
