Ilan Weiss HY”D, 55, from Kibbutz Be’eri, was murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7 while rushing to open the kibbutz armory as part of the local emergency squad. His body was taken into Gaza, while his wife and daughter were also kidnapped and later released in the first hostage deal.
Idan Shtivi HY”D, 29, from Kibbutz Ein HaYam, was abducted after attending the Nova music festival near Re’im. He managed to call his partner as he left the area, later attempting to rescue two friends as they fled northward. Their car came under terrorist fire; the bodies of his friends were found days later, but Shtivi was taken into Gaza as a hostage.
Both families have now been formally notified following identification at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine.
