Temimim Shmuel and Mordechai Gotzel, joined the Jewish Community of Uzbekistan on behalf of the Ohr Avner, headed by Rabbi Berel Lazar and the Bukhara Jewish Congress.
They visited many communities throughout the country, including Fergana, Kokand, Samarkand, Bukhara, and the Capital Tashkent, in order to reach as many Jews as possible and celebrate Chanukah with them.
In each city, the Shluchim have been holding Public Menorah Lightings. They have also been overseeing special children’s programs and encouraging the local residents to put on Tefillin and Put Mezuzos on their doors.
According to the head of the Bukhara Jewish Congress, Rabbi Yehuda Beloy, “the Shluchim will reach over 2000 Jews throughout Uzbekistan, in order to help them celebrate Chanukah. This is an important effort to preserve and celebrate Jewish traditions, even in far-reaching locations. The Shluchim are helping to spread the joy of Chanukah to Jewish communities in Uzbekistan.”
