After 584 Days in Captivity: Kidnapped Soldier Idan Alexander Returns to Israel

After 584 days in the brutal captivity of the Hamas terror organization, kidnapped IDF soldier Idan Alexander has been freed. He arrived at the initial reception point in the Gaza Envelope area, where he was reunited with his family. His grandmother expressed deep emotion, saying: “Today, Idan is celebrating his own Pesach Sheni. He has gone from slavery to freedom, from bondage to redemption. I pray that everyone else will return too.” • Read More

Earlier this evening (Monday), Idan crossed back into Israeli territory and reached the reception center near the Gaza border. Just minutes before, he had been transferred from the custody of the Red Cross to the IDF inside Gaza, after being handed over to the Red Cross by Hamas terrorists at a designated meeting point in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.

Idan walked on his own and was assisted by Red Cross personnel as he entered a vehicle. Unlike past “release ceremonies” staged by Hamas, he was not dressed in military uniform.

The Ministry of Health reported that after a preliminary medical evaluation at the Re’im reception area, Idan will be transferred to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv for further care.

Awaiting him at Re’im were his family – his mother and father, who arrived in Israel earlier today – along with Gal Hirsch, Israel’s coordinator for captives and missing persons, and Steve Witkoff, U.S. Presidential Envoy to the Middle East.
