The trip that will never be forgotten by its hundreds of participants.

Over 800 (!) Jewish students from all over Russia and the Former Soviet Union (FSU) joined a special trip to the largest city in China, Shanghai, to make history together.

The students joined a year-long Jewish learning program with local Shluchim and Shluchos, and joined together for an immersive journey with the shluchim and Shluchos accompanying them.

These annual trips have become a tradition, attracting hundreds of participants each year after they complete their attendance in a unique and stimulating Jewish studies program. The chosen destination for Winter 2025 was Shanghai, China.

“Our new campaign,” explains YAHAD Director, Rabbi Mendy Wilansky, “is now gaining momentum across the media. It is aimed at youth from Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and other FSU countries, with the goal of deepening their connection to their heritage through a fascinating and meaningful series of weekly study sessions and gatherings. Upon completion, the students and young professionals will embark on an unforgettable trip that they will remember for a lifetime.”

The new destination was carefully selected, following previous trips to countries in Western and Eastern Europe, Israel, and even Thailand. “China is a surprising choice for everyone,” Rabbi Mendy adds. “Many view this oriental destination as something beyond their reach, something they can’t even imagine. Now, their dream will become a reality, and we expect to see a high level of registration in the coming days.”

This is the 12th journey of the YAHAD organization, which organized the trip, operates within the framework of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the CIS – FJC, led by Russia’s chief Rabbi, Berel Lazar. It continues to act among the Jewish students throughout the entire year and ensures that as many young Jews as possible preserve and strengthen their Judaism.
