“This camp site is nothing short of an open miracle” Rabbi Joseph Rosenfeld, Executive Director of the Mossad Oholei Torah proudly said.
The camp was opened in response to the need for a camp catering to the needs of the local talmidim of this age group, looking for a chassidish learning environment together with a positive and productive summer experience, explained Rabbi Sholom Goldstein, Director.
In early spring, there was a purchase of a camp grounds spanning 120 acres, located in the upstate town of Kingston, NY. Rabbi Sholom Goldstein worked tirelessly to have the camp open and running in time for the summer season. With a dedicated staff lead by Managing Director, Rabbi Yisroel Levertov, over 100 campers from 8th grade and mesivta, together with older bochurim are succeeding in making this summer a most productive and exciting one.
With Rabbi Yisroel Freidman, Rosh Yeshiva of the Oholei Torah Zal, a special chassidishe atmosphere is felt throughout the camp. Being outside of the regular yeshiva seder, learning classes and sedorim are giving the young talmidim a new perspective in limud and a deeper understanding of the sugyas being learned. The many older bochurim make themselves available to learn and farbreng with.
The camp grounds include a lake, an Olympic-size pool, dining halls, two zals, spacious bunk houses, and over 8 sports fields. The campers also have had many adventurous trips and outings.
“Our greatest nachas is to see the talmidim thrive and grow throughout the summer season, and have them return to yeshiva with refreshed koiches and energy” said Rabbi Rosenfeld.
Many members of the community have shown their financial support, and have sponsored dedications on the camp grounds.
We are proud to share with you this array of photos giving you a glimpse into a day in Yeshivas Kayitz Kingston.
