9-Foot Menorah Goes Up At Maryland’s Aberdeen Proving Ground, US Army’s Oldest Active Proving Ground

Thanks to Baltimore Shliach Rabbi Chesky Tenenbaum, director of the Jewish Uniformed Service Association of Maryland-Chabad, a 9-foot Menorah has been erected at Aberdeen Proving Ground the US Army’s oldest active proving ground.
The Menorah stands on one of the base’s busiest streets, bringing festive light to the more than 12,000 U.S. Army personnel who live and work at Aberdeen Proving Ground. In addition to the Menorah installation, a Chanukah celebration was recently held at the base. APG Garrison Chaplain Major Jae Kim, along with soldiers and employees from the APG community, attended the event. Guests received Menorah kits to help celebrate the Chanukah holiday.
JUSA-Chabad, an affiliate of Chabad of Maryland expressed its gratitude to the APG Main Post Chapel for their ongoing support of the Jewish community at Aberdeen Proving Ground throughout the year.
The JUSA Chabad House located in Baltimore is the only such Chabad House of its kind dedicated to Maryland Jewish Men and Women in Uniform, including Military and Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders. For more information go to, jewishusamd.org.
