The shockwaves were also felt across parts of Egypt. The country’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics confirmed the event, stating that a magnitude 6.4 earthquake was recorded approximately 431 kilometers off Egypt’s northern coast. Egyptian authorities likewise reported no casualties or property damage.
While the epicenter was located off the coast of Crete, there have been no immediate reports of major damage or injuries on the island. Seismologists continue to monitor the area for potential aftershocks.
