The packages included candies and snacks imported from Israel—continuing the cherished custom of giving “Pekalach” to children by Hakafos along with personal flags, games, and popular children’s books.
“The goal is to instill within the children a deep, joyous, and sweet connection to the Torah,” an FJC spokesperson explained. “This year, we wanted to make an extra effort, especially given the tragedy that occurred during Simchat Torah last year. The upgraded packages were designed to make the children feel ‘at home’ in Shul, allowing them to connect to the holiday and joyfully dance and celebrate with the community.”
The packages were distributed throughout Jewish communities in Russia and Belarus, thanks to the FJC’s extensive network of deliveries and volunteers who provide humanitarian, educational, and cultural support to tens of thousands of community members year-round.
