Rabbi Menachem Mendel Teichman, The Rebbe’s Shliach and Rabbi of the Russian-speaking community in Netanya, led the ceremony and had the honor of reciting the name. The man was named “Kfir Ariel,” in memory of the two children, Kfir and Ariel Bibas, who were tragically kidnapped and murdered by Hamas terrorists. Their bodies were returned to Israel this morning as part of a hostage exchange deal.

Rabbi Teichman shared his personal connection to the ceremony, explaining that the young man, a Jew by birth, had been convinced to have a Bris, and the decision to name him after the fallen children was made with the intent to memorialize them

“This is a special moment, and I am honored to be part of it,” said Rabbi Teichman. “Despite the heartbreaking tragedy, I was able to persuade him to honor the memories of these holy children by choosing their names for this important occasion.”

The ceremony, which took place in Netanya amidst an outpouring of emotion, serves as a testament to the resilience and strength of the Jewish community as it continues to heal from the horrors of recent attacks. The names of Kfir and Ariel will now live on through the man’s new Jewish identity, symbolizing the eternal bond of the Jewish people.
