As part of the “770” Charity Foundation activities, which works with all Jewish communities in Russia. The Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, supported and blessed the initiative.

Among the organizations actively helping the Jews of Russia is the Charitable Foundation “770”, whose mission include support for rabbis and emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe throughout the country.

The “770” Foundation provides communities with kosher food (distributing over 2,000 food packages monthly), Jewish books, tefillin, mezuzahs, and other items necessary for fulfilling mitzvot. In addition, the foundation participates in the building of mikvahs, synagogues, and educational institutions, publishes and distributes children’s Jewish books, and translates Chassidishe books into Russian.

This week, the foundation’s activities reached a new level: a large-scale project was launched to distribute 100 pairs of kosher mehudar tefillin in beautiful handbags for Jews who have taken it upon themselves to put them on daily, as well as 2,000 high-quality mezuzahs, which rabbis will install in the homes of Jews who have not yet fulfilled this commandment.

Rabbi Lazar visited the Foundation’s office before the initiative launch, but after all tefillin and mezuzahs were delivered to Moscow. There, he received a detailed report from the foundation’s founder and chairman, Reb Yehuda Davidov, about the project and the communities that will receive the tefillin and mezuzahs.

Since the foundation’s inception, Rabbi Lazar has provided guidance and inspiration. He expressed admiration for the scale of the project, thought out to the smallest detail, blessed the Foundation’s founder and the entire team of the organization for the success of the current initiative and wished to expand their activities next year.
