Two Israeli soldiers were tragically killed and another two were seriously injured in fierce clashes with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, the IDF said.
The casualties were identified as 20-year-old Staff Sergeant Roei Wolf of Ramat Gan, and 20-year-old Staff Sergeant Lavi Lipshitz of Modiin.
Prior to announcing the deaths of the two soldiers, the IDF said its troops had been engaged in heavy fighting with Hamas, in which dozens of terrorists were eliminated.
Earlier this morning, the IDF published a recording of the commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, telling troops that we “are launching an attack on Hamas and terror organizations in the Gaza Strip. Our goal is one, victory.”
“We will fight in the alleys, we will fight in the tunnels, we will fight wherever necessary. We will strike the despicable enemy in front of us. My brothers – the residents of Be’eri, Sderot, Nir Oz, Kfar Aza, and the yishuvim of the western Negev and all of Am Yisrael are with you. Everyone is looking at us now. Like me – they’re also relying on you and believe in you. You’re the generation of victory.”
“Move toward your missions. Strike the enemy.”
