During the recent Kinus Hashluchim, the beautiful new app ‘Chabad Global’ was unveiled to assist every travelling Jew with finding Jewish resources and accommodations for all basic Jewish needs. The app has quickly gained in popularity, with some having already dubbed it the ‘Waze’ of Chabad.
Upon launch anywhere in the world, the GPS-enabled app displays the nearest Chabad House or center’s location, contact information, and other pertinent details. Additionally, the app offers the option of direct navigation to that location.
One can also search the comprehensive directory of Chabad Houses and centers by entering a country, city, or zip code, and find all those nearby. The app’s directory already contains thousands of Chabad Houses listings, but users can also add new locations from within the app.
At its debut, the app was operational in only two languages, Hebrew and English, while promising that in the future additional languages will be added. That day has arrived.
As of this morning, the app has been updated to be compatible in the additional languages of Spanish and Russian. There are plans to enable French as well, in the near future.
The app automatically switches to the preferred language by recognizing the phone’s default setting. Of course, language preference can also be set in the settings.
Currently only in its Beta version, the app will undergo continues improvements based on user feedback. (The app is currently only available for Android.)
