Recently, a family that appeared to be Frum Jews moved to the Lubavitch community in Montreal but as time progressed, it was found out that they are not Jews but only dress like Frum Jews and like to engage Frum Jews in conversations regarding religion.
A Rov in Montreal and a well known educator released a letter this week regarding the situation where he informed the entire community about this family, where they wear Yarmulka and Tzitzis, the women dress like Jewish women, but they do not claim to be Jewish and are starting conversations with adults and children regarding religion.
“At first, when talking to them, you can come across with the impression that they praise Judaism but then, it is evident that they belong to a certain Messianic group that likely aims to expose (and possibly attract) Yidden to Christianity” the Rov wrote.
Additionally, the Rov asked that everyone not engage and make sure their children not engage that family in any discussion or debate and warned that zealous acts can be counterproductive.
In an exclusive interview with ChabadInfo.com, the Rov who wishes to remain anonymous revealed as to how he discovered that this family’s motives:
“He asked how can there be posters proclaiming the Rebbe as Moshiach when he was not born in Bethlehem, while misquoting Pesukim and Gemaros to backup him statement.
This raised a red flag, so I asked him where he Davens on Shabbos. He answered without hesitation that he goes to the messianic synagogue in the neighborhood. I checked their website and their motives were obvious: teaching Jews about Christianity.”
