Just over 48 hours ago, Beis Chayeinu stood open welcoming and serving the hundreds of those who come to learn, to daven or visit Beis Chayeinu for the first time.
Fast forward to Monday afternoon, a seemingly impossible event took place in reality, but reality exceeds all imagination. As we reported at the time: “A group of unruly rioters, who have been doing whatever they want for years in Beis Chayeinu – 770, destroyed the wall with their own hands, confronted the police who came to put order in the place, and did not stop the unrestrained riot until they were arrested by the police, and finally caused the closure of the Zal of 770.”
A place of Torah, Teffilah and Tzedaka, our Beis Chayeinu, was reduced to mockery across the internet, with viral videos that were seen across TikTok, Facebook and X (Twitter) by hundreds of millions, not to mention the hundreds if not thousands of articles written by almost every news agency.
The cause: A few heavily misguided Porkei Ol decided on their own – against the will of the Rabbonim, Gabbaim and Askanim, and thus against the Rebbe – to “expand 770”.
The effect: You have the New York Post (and many others) smearing the name of Yidden and Lubavitch with the headline “SUBVEY – Cha’bad’ boys spark hole-y war by digging illegal tunnel under Brooklyn synagogue!”. Even Al-Jazeera is smearing Lubavitch!
In the days when the security of Yidden is in danger and the need for Ahavas Yisroel and unity is greater, a few Pokei Ol didn’t think and caused the greatest Chillul Hashem in the history of Lubavitch.

We hope the true effect will be unity among Lubavitch and the ultimate goal of an expanded Beis Chayeinu in Yerushalayim with the ultimate Geulah.
