A new development including a discount grocery store could hit Bedford Avenue as soon as 2024, brokers said this week.

The 105,000-square-foot development, slated for Bedford Avenue between Sullivan Place and Empire Boulevard, will include a Lidl supermarket, office space, retail, some residential units and community space, according to plans released Monday.

Developers are looking to complete the project in 16 months after grabbing a $62,250,000 construction loan, according to a representative of Eastern Union.

The project includes Brooklyn’s first Lidl supermarket, though there are other locations in Harlem, Astoria and Staten Island.

“We’re confident that Lidl will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood and we’re now engaged in preliminary discussions with other national retailers about leasing opportunities at this property,” said Jack Gold, co-founder of the complex’s developer, Seventh Street Development Group.

The property will include 57 residential units totaling 39,000-square-feet, though much remains unknown about the plans or price point for the homes.

Permits for the property were filed in 2021, proposing a 94-foot-tall concrete-based structure, New York YIMBY reported. The construction required the demolition of an existing single-story building at the location.
