The annual West Indian American Day Parade, an event known to cause logistical, among other issues in Crown Heights, will be cancelled this year and substituted with a series of smaller events in person and virtually.
According to the West Indian American Day Carnival Association, the cancellation is due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
One event will take place on Saturday from 7:00 pm – 12:00 am, at the Brooklyn Museum on Eastern Parkway. The annual carnival will take place on Monday beginning at 11:00 am, also at the museum.
This comes as a great relief to frum families in Crown Heights, who worried about the complications surrounding preparing Rosh Hashana, which begins that evening, September 6. Now families will be relieved to know that the closures and tznius issues that surround the yearly event will no longer be a problem.
