A group of New York residents were seen protesting against an apartment on 964 Park Place, housing bochurim who are attending a new Yeshiva for Kvutza bochurim learning in 770.
A group of vocal protesters, standing in what they believe is in solidarity with illegally evicted tenants, stood blocking the doorway of the dorm.
According to a report received by Chabadinfo.com, there was a trial for close to 6 years to whom this apartment belongs.
It all starts nearly 10 years ago when Ida Robinson, the owner of the house, found herself unable to pay a required mortgage as stated by a court report.
She attempted to retain ownership of the home but having a second person purchase the property from her for nearly $800,000, only later to pay the second person back.
After her attempt failed and being unable to pay the new ‘home owner”, her contract with them stated that she would lose all rights to the house and would become a “tenant”.
Ms Robinson was unable to accept this and declined to pay rent.
The demonstration is illegal, and police are trying to calm the protests.
