We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Shimon Sofer, OBM, Rav of the Toras Moshe Shul in Tzfas, the son of Rabbi Yochanan Sofer, he was a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah.
He was zechus of meeting with the Rebbe when the Rebbe said in a sicha that a Beis Din should be established to pasken that Moshiach should arrive immediately. Every year thereafter Rabbi Sofer would form a Beis Din to pasken on that day that Moshiach should arrive immediately.
In the summer of 5782, in the house of his son he met with Rabbi Shalom Dov Ber Wolf author of Inyanei Shel Moshiach and teacher in the Chabad Yeshivah of Tzfas and Rabbi Yitzchak Lipsch menahel of Tzach in Eretz Yisroel where they gave rabbi Sofer the above-mentioned book and the book Zman Hageulah.
During the meeting he happily signed the famous ruling that the Rebbe Moshiach. below is a photo of the original signature:
