We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Shaina Welner, a young Lubavitcher teen from Phoenix, Arizona, who inspired thousands to do mitzvos in merit of her recovery. She passed away on Shabbos, 29 Iyar, 5783.
She had just celebrated her 16th birthday last week and passed away after a year-long battle with cancer.
Shaina was the eldest of 6 children of R’ Yaakov and Rochel Welner, a Lubavitcher couple who are active members of the growing Phoenix Chabad community, and founded the Lubavitcher Cheder there, under the auspices of Senior Shliach Rabbi Zalman Levertov.
She is survived by her parents, Rabbi Yaakov and Rochel Welner and her siblings Chaya, Leah, Tzippy, Yitzi, and Naomi.
The levaya will be held on Sunday in New York, passing by 770 at 2 pm, and continuing in Arizona.
