We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Zvi Dovber (Berel) Pachter, OBM, a beloved Mashpia and teacher in Brunoy, France and a well-known musician. He passed away on Tisha B’Av 5783.
Born in France, his father was Rabbi Pinchas Gedalya Pachter.
In his youth Zvi was zoche to go with his father to Yechidus with the Rebbe. The Rebbe asked him “Who is the Moshe of our generation.” Zvi answered (in Yiddish) what his father had taught him, ‘You!’ And the Rebbe came back and asked him again who, and so on until he fell silent.
As a Bochur he learned at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Kfar Chabad.
He married his wife Naamah (Nee Eliav) from Argentina. He later moved to Brunoy and toght at the Cheder Lubavitch and later was appointed as a Mashpia.
When the Lubavitch Mesivta was established in Vincennes, he was sereved as a Mashpia.
Also, Rabbi Pashter was a well-known musician and was Zoche for two years in a row that his submissions being used for the Rebbe’s Kapital.
He is survived by his children, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Pachter, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Pachter, Mrs. Chana Baila Steinmetz, Dovid Leib, Zalmi, Chaim, Mindy and Shmulik.
The Levaya was held in Paris in route to Eretz Yisroel.
