With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Yaakov Katz OBM, the Rosh Yeshiva of Kfar Chabad, at the age of 83.
Rabbi Katz was born on Yud Shvat 5691 (1931) in the city of Chelm, Poland, and emigrated to Israel in his youth. He learned in the Chabad Yeshiva in Israel, and at the young age of 19, became a Magid Shiur in Yeshiva, until becoming a Rosh Yeshiva a while later. He was known as a great scholar, and knowledgeable both in Torah and in matters of the world. He lived in the city of Bnei Brak, where he gave Shiurim to local residents.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Esther; his children Mrs. Chana Mishkin from Bnei Brak; Mrs. Batsheva Deren – Shlucha in Pittsburgh, PA; Rabbi Shmuel – Chabad Shliach to Lincolnshire, IL, and Mrs. Devora Prus from Kfar Chabad.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow (Sunday) in Bnei Brak.
