We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Rabbi Uri Mordechai Lipsh, a Rav, Shliach, and veteran mechanech from Beni Brak and later Kfar Chabad. He passed away on Purim, Friday, 14 Adar, 5785.
He was just 58 and passed away after battling a terrible illness, as many davened for his recovery.
Uri Mordechai Lipsh was born in Kfar Chabad to Rabbi Elazar Lipsh and Mrs. Rivka Lipsh on the Chof Elul, 5726 (1966).
He was educated in the local Cheder in Kfar Chabad and continued learning in the Yeshivah Ketana in Lod. After three years, he returned to study in the Yeshivah Gedolah in Kfar Chabad and later joined the Kevutza to study in 770 in the Rebbe’s Daled Amos.
With the Rebbe’s Bracha, Uri continued to learn in 770 for three additional years, during which he got Smicha from the Rosh Yeshivah, Rabbi Mordechai Mentlik. He then returned to Eretz Yisroel, where he married his wife, Mrs. Sarah Shifra, the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shmelka Segal.
At the Rebbe’s directive, he settled in Bnei Brak. Even as he taught at the Talmud Torah in the city, he continued his studies and received Dayanus, and was ordained by the Chief Rabbinate.
After eight years, Rabbi Lipsh moved to the Talmud Torah Torat Emes in Yeushalayim, and from there, he taught nigla at the Chabad Yeshivah in Karyot.
Starting in 5772 (2012), he taught seventh grade in Kfar Chabad.
In addition to Chinuch, he regularly gave shiurim on Chassidus in Bnei Brak and classes for women at Ohr Hachassidus.
He also used his skills for casual conversations with the residents of Bnei Brak, encouraging them to engage with and study Chassidus.
In 5762 (2002), Rabbi Lipsh published a Sefer on the Halachos of Sheva Mitzvos, מדריך לעולם מתוקן.
Rabbi Lipsh also served as Rav of the Chabad Shul in Kriyat Herzog in Bnei Brak.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Shifra, and his children: Chana Mushka Pevzner – Crown Heights, Yocheved Cohen – Bnei Brak, Malka Esther Weintraub – Bnei Brak, R’ Menachem Mendel Lipsch – Beit Shemesh, R’ Yitzchak Lipsch – Gilo, R’ Yehuda Lipsch, R’ Shalom Dov Ber Lipsch – Be’er Sheva, Shneur Zalman Lipsch, and Meir Shlomo Lipsch.
