We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Shimon Gad Elituv, OBM, passed away on Wednesday, 3 Shevat 5783.
He was 85.
A leading Chabad Rav in Israel, who was the eldest member of the Chief Rabbinate Council of Israel. He
Rabbi Elituv served as the Rabbi of the Syrian Halabi community in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as the Mevaseret Tzion town near Jerusalem, and of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, which administers forty-two settlements in the Shomron.
He also served as Rosh Yeshiva of Oz Meir Chabad in Jerusalem. And was a member of the Presidium Council of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States.
This morning (Wednesday) he underwent CPR at his home and was transported to the hospital, where he passed away.
He is survived by his children Rabbi Shaul Moshe Elituv – Kfar Citrin: Rabbi Yossi Elituv – Beitar; Mrs. Nechama Asulin – Hadera; and Mrs. Shterna Sara Shweka – Nachlas Har Chabad; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
