We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Rafael Lapidus, a longtime Chabad Shliach in Argentina who taught and brought many closer to Yiddishkeit.
He was 69.
Rabbi Lapidus directed the Iarjo Jabad Lavalle center in Buenos Aires, which includes a shul, classes on Torah and Chassidus, as well as the Shabbos and Yom Tov programs.
His Chabad House also housed a dormitory for Jewish university students, many of whom built a connection to Yiddisheit through their stay.
“Every person who walked through this door, whether they were concerned with something at work or personal, were always treated with love and importance. Rabbi Lapidus was an example for everyone.” Community member Gavriel Amar said in brief remarks at the levaya.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Chaya Leah Lapidus, their children Mrs. Chana Ita Teitelbaum – Sherman Oaks, California; Mrs. Devorah Kozlovsky – Miami, Florida; R’ Shalom Lapidus – Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his siblings R’ Yosef Lapidus – Long Island, NY; R’ Daniel Lapidus – Brooklyn, NY; R’ Chaim Eliezer Lapidus, R’ Reuven Lapidus, R’ Issar Lapidus, all of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and sister Mrs. Ruthi Weiss – Sherman Oaks, California.
