We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Moshe Dov Ginsburg, the Rebbe’s Shliach in Haifa, Eretz Yisroel, who brought in twenty-five more Shluchim to the city and revolutionized Yiddishkeit in the third largest city in Eretz Yisroel. He passed away on Shabbos, Chof Ches Nissan, 5785.
He was 61 years old.
Moshe Dov was born on 29 Tishrei, 5724 (1964) to his Parents, Rabbi Shalom Yehuda Leib and Mrs. Golda Ginsburg of Bnei Brak.
As a bochur, he studied at the Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Kfar Chabad. In 5743 (1983), he joined the Kevutzah, and traveled to study in the 770 Yeshivah, in the Rebbe’s Daled Amos.
After he married his wife, Chana, the daughter of Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Silberstrom of Yerushalayim, he was asked by Rabbi Yeremiah Yehuda Leib Schildkraut to come and act as the Rebbe’s Shliach in Haifa. After receiving the Rebbe’s Bracha, he arrived in the city in Cheshvan 5748.
His activities began with the founding of a Chabad house in the Hadar neighborhood, and after six months, he settled in Kiryat Shprintzak and was appointed Rov of the Heichal Chana Shul. At the same time, he continued to serve as the Rebbe’s Shliach in the Hadar neighborhood, and the director of Chabad activities across the city.
Over the years, he has brought in twenty-five more Shluchim to the city, revolutionizing Yiddishkeit in the third largest city in Eretz Yisroel.
In 2002, he began operating a soup kitchen in the city, where dozens of needy and underprivileged people dine daily.
In 2007, he received a Medal of Honor from the Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Yona Yahav.
