    It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hakohen Aronow, 93, longtime pillar of the Anash community of Toronto, Ontario • Full Story

    Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hakohen Aronow was born on 6 Shvat 5688 to his father Rabbi Yehoshua Zelik and his mother Mrs. Chava Aronow.

    As a child, he studied in the underground Tomchei Tmimim system in the USSR.

    During World War II he fled to Samarkand with his family, where his father also passed away. In Samarkand and Tashkent he studied safaris and schechita. Until his passing he was active in safaris work.

    He left Russia together with Rebbetzin Chana, the Rebbe’s mother.

    After his marriage he moved to Toronto, where he used to teach children in his home.

    Rabbi Aronow remained a pillar of the community over the decades.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Golda Aronow OBM, just over a month ago.

    He is survived by his children; Mrs. Brina Langsam, Crown Heights; Mrs. Brocha Wilhelm, Toronto CA; Rabbi Yosef Aronow, Kfar Chabad, Eretz Yisroel; Mrs. Esther Rochel Moscowitz, Chicago, IL; Rabbi Zelik Aronow, Florida; Mrs. Shternie Notik, Chicago, IL; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
